Azienda Agricola La Ginestraia
La Ginestraia is the name of a shrub that grows in the area where the grapes come from. Childhood friends Marco Lupi and Marco Brangero started making wine here in 2007. Lupi grew up in an Enoteca and buys wine from all over Italy for sale in shops and restaurants. Brangero is a trained oenologist and has taken over the family's vineyard in Piedmont in addition to making wine with Lupi. Despite Ginestraia`s young age, they have already managed to make consistently good wines, especially on the Pigato grape that they grow themselves. La Ginestraia makes wine where the focus is on bringing out as much of the properties as the soil gives the grape. In order to achieve a good result when making wine in this way, you are dependent on high-quality work being carried out in the vineyards at all times. Freshly squeezed Pigato grape tastes like an almost sweet overripe peach with clear salt and mineral tones. The salt comes partly due to its location a few km from the Mediterranean. During fermentation, you will gradually get in more and more acid and in the end you are left with a slightly sour, buttery but fresh wine that goes well with everything from fish, grilled vegetables, pasta dishes and easily cooked light meat.
